The dating website sounds, and looks, like a spoof, but it really is Hannity’s — Hannity.com, his official website, links to the service, and he’s spoken about it in interviews in the past. What makes it special, aside from the fact that its thousands of users (many of whom don’t seem to use it much) presumably like Sean Hannity?

• Funny menu options! When you fill out a profile on the site, there are lots of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout your choices. Languages spoken includes “Southern.” Education includes “Working man’s PHD.” “Favorite Foods” includes “Anything my Mama makes.” “Drinking Habits” includes “Underage” (and curiously enough, “Gave it up” is the default option):

• For gay Hannity fans, the site has an extensive men-seeking-men section. Some of the profiles in the section look like spoofs (“i also get told i look a guy called harvey firesteen a lot, but i have no idea who that is… i’m looking for some non-gay guy buddies who are Baptist and don’t believe in gayness and support president Bush”), but most look legitimate; some are self-identified Log Cabin Republicans. When LA Times columnist Joel Stein interviewed Hannity about the site a while back, he said that “Hannidate is open to everyone;” Stein writes that “Hannity, it turns out, is against same-sex marriage but is pretty libertarian on gay relationships, often standing up to gay bashers on his show and putting gay former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey’s book on his book club list.”

There were a surprising number of users on the site, but most of the profiles haven’t been updated for a week or more, suggesting that hopeful Hannidaters got discouraged and went elsewhere.
